So this weekend has been extra cold. Right now its unbearably cold at -32 with the windchill and I have been in unbearable pain! Apparently the North Pole is warmer. Ugh!
I had a very busy week at school (as always)! Harry Potter brew for HP club
Star wars celebration (Playing star wars Kahoot with all my classes)
Trying out Google Expeditions:
Delivering the OCM service project (and part Christmas Jar Project) to the shelter. Hard to walk out without taking a dog home!
Can’t wait for break and for the kids to be home!!! I have so many fun family things planned!
Well, it has been a very cold week and we got snow last Sunday and this weekend.
That morning was a windchill of -5
We FINALLY got the tree up!
This year we have split our Christmas Jar money into 2 projects.
1. Excelsior, the school I work in, helps students in need and their families for Christmas. Last year they supported 98 kids and 46 families and it grows each year. So we adopted 4 kids and went to the store to buy Christmas presents for them.
2. Then I talked to my OCM group at school. We meet every Wednesday and talk have lessons on how we treat people, etc to fight against bullying. I suggested to them that it would be awesome for us as a class to do some sort of service project- a way to give back. I mentioned the animal shelter and they were automatically on board and so excited!!
SO, over Thanksgiving, I sewed 3 blankets and this week at school they tied them. They had the best time, even the boys! They have been brining in bags of supplies. I will be delivering them to the shelter this week so I will pos more pics after that. A neat part of the story is we have 1 student who has a very difficult home life and his aid at school bought stuff that he could donate. I wish I could have recorded his face when he came in to donate the items to the shelter. He was so excited. He doesnt often get the opportunity to give and he just thought this was the best!
They are in desperate need of PB and hotdogs
As most of you know, poor Misty was incredibly sick over Thanksgiving, so much so that we scheduled her to be put to sleep on Monday at 11:30. I stopped giving her the meds and we changed the bedding in her cage back to allergy free paper (instead of woodchips). That Monday morning, I went down at 5AM like I do every day and expected to find her dead or near death. Instead she came out and was waiting for me to give her lettuce. What?! So, I called and postponed the appointment. Although it has been slow, she is better, eating, running, and even jumped today. We don;t know if it was a bad reaction to the meds, to the bedding, or because of all the prayers- maybe it was all 3. But she is better and we couldnt be happier. We call it our Misty Miracle!
We have been very excited about the 25 days of Christmas that the church put out, “The light of Christ”. Several fun things have been done from helping others at school, pancake breakfast for the family, secretly doing the cages before the kds wake up, and making cookies for the Nativity display.
Um, we got snow…
Fun pics of the guineas just because…
3 weeks til Christmas break and the kids get here! Can’t wait!!!
Bob turned 48 yesterday and we celebrated by going to his favorite place for birthdays, Happy Joe’s, so he could have his taco pizza! Then we came home and watched “Allegiant”. Happy Birthday!
Overall, we had a good relaxing Thanksgiving
I made 3 blankets for my OCM kids to tie for our service project
Misty became very ill. 7 days later she is still hanging on but not better. We took her to the vet. She got a vitamin c shot and we got her on antibiotics, but she is still so sick. Now we have to decide whether or not to put her down. Its absolutely heart wrenching!
The day before break we had a fire alarm go off for no reason and we ended up outside in the freezing cold
The biggest frustration though is knowing I have school tomorrow and I still don't feel rested and I don't know how to fix it
1. Kayla and Brandon finally got an apartment! They will be in the BYU married housing, Wymount! I know it was a very stressful week for them, but so happy everything worked out!
2. Marisa and Jared had their Luau. Sounds like it went great! Wish I could have been there to see it!
3. The day before that, Marisa went to the doctor and found out she has pneumonia! She got antibiotics and I think she is feeling better?
4. Tyler got a call from BATC saying he could start November 28- that is way too soon, especially to try and get him set up out there. So, he is now set to start in May.
5. Look at this great note I got from a student at Anamosa
6. Alayna loves bowling. She goes 3 nights a week. The 1st meet is on Tuesday.
7. Marisa, Brandon, and Kayla are all heading to sunny AZ for Thanksgiving. Can’t wait to see them all at Christmas!
Happy Thanksgiving week!!
