This is slowly becoming a Monday newsletter instead of Sunday. Not sure why I am so slow. Oh well. We got our first snow last night. It was very chilly! Right now it is 39 degrees and we expect 1-3 inches of snow tonight. I was truly hoping the snow season would at least hold off until Christmas. No such luck.
Yesterday was a very busy day. Marisa had to drop drama since it meets the same time as the Geography Bee team. She is so excited for it! There are only 3 people on the team, but she is so excited for the competition coming up next month. She also had her choir concert last night which was fabulous. I couldn’t help but think of my amazing choir teacher Mrs Edwards. I am so thrilled Marisa can be in this great program.
Kayla also had volleyball. She has a smaller group this session with less aggressive players which is giving her the chance to play and hit the ball even more. I got to be a chaperone on Kayla’s field trip last week. We went to see the Grant Wood museum. For those of you who don’t know, he is the one who painted "American Gothic" (The girl and guy with the pitchfork). Anyway, he was raised here in Cedar Rapids. It was a cool exhibit and we got to see the actual "American Gothic" painting. Did you know the people in the picture are Grant Wood’s sister and his dentist?? Thought that was interesting. I also learned that I do not enjoy being on a bus with 70 4th graders screaming. I thought I would never shake the headache I got from that. When my students go on field trips, I think I will opt for following in a car!!!
The girls had an Activity Day Recognition evening Saturday night. However, when we showed up we found out it was a fancy dinner. We had already eaten and were way underdressed, so we went back home. Oh well. Instead we got to watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with Bob.
Tyler earned his yellow belt!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so proud of him! Now he will start working for his orange one. He is loving school and loving his hamsters. Alayna is busy being busy. We did get to take the hamsters into her class since they studies pets last week. Her class is also taking a trip to Petco this week.
I will be taking the final for my second class in the next week and also am almost half way through the 3rd class. It will be nice to have them done. Although, I am loving this class on children’s informational books! You gotta love a class that makes you read awesome childrens books all day huh?
Well, I guess that’s it for this week.

Hello!!
It’s a cold 48 degrees here. I guess I shouldn’t complain since it isn’t below zero yet. It’s still cold though.
We had a fun Halloween. We went to Papa Murphy’s pizza place where all the kids in costume got free cookie dough. Then we came home and ate pizza. We had so many people come to our door, then we went out trick or treating. We didn’t stay out too long since it was so flipping cold! Marisa was a doctor, Kayla was a snow angel, Tyler was a ninja, and Alayna was Sleeping Beauty.
We also got our flu shots on Monday. Right after Bob and I got ours, his work released an email saying anyone employed at Rockwell and their spouses could get the shots for free at work. We were livid- guess we won’t ever see that $50 again!
Tyler tested for his yellow belt yesterday, but we didn’t find out if he got it yet. He seemed to feel good about the testing. He did earn his fourth stripe this week so that was exciting. We also got him a book shelf in his room to put all these animal books. We even got his shark posters up- so now it is extra cool!
We had a frustrating evening on Friday. Kayla pulled Alayna’s arm too hard and dislocated her elbow. We spent 3 hours in the emergency walk in clinic and then sent to the hospital for extras. She even got a little arm sling. She cried ALL night every time she rolled on it, but by the next day, she was doing great and is back to normal now. Now if our family could just stay out of the ER!!
Well, I guess that is all that is new here. As always, we hope people actually look at our site. We hope to update ths kids sites this week. We will let you know.
