I made the GWAEA paper this week in my Star Wars shirt

This week Alayna had her Young Women in Excellence. She did a beautiful job sharing how much she loves her patriarchal blessing and her experience getting one. She also wrote out her testimony. She has grown up so much!
This week we had our annual Anamosa Veterans Day celebration. It’s a huge deal for the whole city. All the veterans come for the assembly and then are honored in a special luncheon. It was a great program with an Anamosa veteran’s family being presented with the medals he earned and never received. I always cry when the flag is brought in by veterans and then the veterans each salute it as it goes by. I’m grateful for parents who taught me what freedom really is, who has sacrificed for that freedom, and a deep respect for all military personnel.
It was also SO cool to get to see the Chinook land at our middle school and see it up close. Reminded me so much of my dad!
Our high school students made a video about not texting while driving for a contest and we made the finals. All week we were voting and getting everyone in the city to vote. We find out after Thanksgiving if we won the $100,000! (We dressed up as Jake from State Farm (the sponsors of the contest) one day for the press and yes I am in the pictures!
Our Ponderizing…please keep us in your prayers. 2 great possible job opportunities for me next year will be posting soon and I will need divine help to get them if its right for me.
(Clearly someone got hungry while waiting for him to wake up so we could sing Happy Birthday…)
Both Alayna and Tyler were home sick this week. Alayna has been watching Cupcake Wars and has been feeling inspired. Which is awesome, because we totally benefit!
I got both book fairs set up, including doing one dressed up as super woman!
More amazing pumpkins came in (check facebook), but I had to share these:
(every jewel was put on by hand!)
Took bosses kid trick or treating..
We had a fun day with Tyler yesterday taking him clothes and shoe shopping (desperately needed) and went to Olive Garden for lunch. He had some friends over for gaming in the evening and we are making his giant cookie today. Happy Birthday Tyler!!!
Look at these cool t-shirts that Tyler designed for his trombone section.
Huge week in the library! Edible Book day and Book Character dress up day. Here are my submissions:
Here is my costume…Princess Leia from Empire Strikes Back
This is a tribute to the princess I always wanted to be! One who is confident in their individual worth, soft and beautiful, yet when needed, can take charge and totally kick butt! Thanks to Princess Leia and my mom for molding me into the strong, independent, kick-butt woman I am today! (However, this is a small disturbance in the force as I have misplaced my lightsaber. Yes, Leia has one. She is a Jedi so she has to have one somewhere…)

Here is our week ponderizing scripture and thought…
