EFY, caves, and the 4th of July
July 6, 2008
Another quick update:
Marisa spent the week at EFY in Nauvoo and had an absolute blast! I told her she needs to take the time to write up her experiences and post the pictures she took. Hopefully she will get around that today. She had her first dance, did baptisms at the Nauvoo temple, and met some great people.
We went down on Friday to see the Maquoketa caves and have some fun pictures to post from that. Tyler took a giant spill only ten steps into the cave park. He has lots of bandages to show from that. The caves were cool, but muddy. We had a picnic lunch at the cave park and the weather was perfect. Then we went and stayed at G’parents Harts house (even though we missed them because they are in Missouri) for July 4th. We did sparklers, picked raspberries, made raspberry ice cream sauce, and watched a movie. The next morning we had to be up by 6 to pick up Marisa and her friend in Nauvoo. Everyone was dead tired and slpet the whole way home.
I know it wont shock any of you to know my laptop died once again (after being home only 2 days) The next time it does, I vow to drop kick it over our home!! Tomorrow I am moving my furniture into my classroom. I still have so much to do for work before we leave town.
Kayla starts tennis camp tomorrow. They had to move it to the other side of town so it will be much farther away. Marisa has youth conference from Wednesday til Saturday. We are trying to get all our last minute stuff done for the reunions. It’s a busy, busy summer...

Cooking barbies?
June 30, 2008
This will be a quick one. Marisa left this morning for EFY in Nauvoo. She is so excited and I know she will have a great time. Our week looks less busy, but I don’t dare say that out loud. I still have tons to do before we leave.
Tyler went to cub scout day camp last week and had a great time. The boys were able to do so many wonderful and fun activities: water games, archery, BB guns, slingshots, horseback riding, cooking (grossology experiments) and many other fun and exciting things. Grandma Annie, you will be happy to know Tyler hit the bullseye and broke the balloon in archery on his first shot!! Then he hit the target on almost every shot with the BB gun! I think he may be a natural. Anyway, I have some fun pictures to post from camp and will get those up soon.
I just have to share something so funny. Alayna said she was “very busy” trying to prepare things for her animals big birthday bash. As she ran through this huge list of things she had to do, she mentioned that she needed to “cook the barbies”. The barbies were all laid out, each on a book. I asked why she is cooking the barbies. She said, “Mom! It’s only pretend! They are my food: sausages and sushi.” I was dying! Then she said, “I am cooking them on the grills”. Apparently, that’s what the books were. Anyway, I guess she had a successful birthday party…
Ok, hope all are doing well.
