In other news…

Tyler did an awesome job in the Thespian play “An inconvenient corpse” where he ended up as the murderer.  It was so well done.  It was in the library and beautifully decorated with decadent desserts.  We really enjoyed it!

My presentation in Eldora went great.  It was an entire region and people were very complimentary and said I need to speak at the state once again.   Not sure I can handle the anxiety!  But I received 2 very kind emails I wanted to share.

“Kristina:I would like to thank you for presenting at our Hardy Reading meeting last night!  I heard nothing but wonderful things about your presentation!!  Thank you so much for sharing not only your ideas, handouts, web links and so much more... but also for motivating and inspiring all of us to be better teachers of reading!  I hope the rest of your school year goes well.  Your students are very lucky to have you as their advocate for reading.”

From a teacher that brought a group in for booktalks: “Wow!! You do a great job!!  (especially considering the combination of kids that was put together for us)  Very informative and an excellent way to get the kids excited about reading more!  Thanks so much for continuing this for the students!! We are soooooooo lucky to have you in our building!!! “

Last week I was called up at the last second to bear my testimony.  I ended up speaking on sharks and guinea pigs.  I told the story I loved from conference about the sharks.  If you haven't read it yet, you should!  Anyway, I wanted to share my story about the guineas.  So, our little guineas each have distinct personalities.  When you come down to get them, they each have a different way of responding.  Rosie always looks mad, may bite your finger and has a look that almost dares you to pick her up.  Lily runs like crazy to hide or freezes like a statue, thinking if she doesn’t move, you can’t see her.  Now Daisy almost bites her way through the cage because she is so excited for you to pick her up.  As I held them watching general conference, I was thinking about how we will respond when the Savior comes again (especially with all the wars and the “blood moon”, and people thinking the world is ending.)  So, how will we receive him?  Will we be like Rosie- angry over things we have said and done and feeling like we werent given enough time to prepare?  Will we be like Lily and hide from the embarrassment and shame of our own actions and not feel worthy to be in his presence?  Or will we be like Daisy, so excited that we are willing to do anything to be received into his presence?

Senior Recognition Night- We had to walk out on the field with him and be introduced.  It was FREEZING!  It was around 37 degrees.  Fun to share his last night of marching band with him!

We have been working as a family to follow the counsel at general conference to Ponderize.  We do a scripture AND a thought from conference. I find it works best for me during my workouts.

Pumpkins, apples, and bands

Another busy week has passed as we fly into October.  The air is finally cooling!  This weekend we have enjoyed the beautiful talks at conference.  My heart has been truly touched and I feel like many of my prayers were answered.

Bob and Alayna also helped me make my literary pumpkins for the displays at the libraries.
