June 3, 2007

Well, we made it! We survived the school and now move on to enjoy our summer. We have so many things planned, that I am sure we will be busy. But, we have scheduled the much needed relaxation.
1. Memorial Day was very fun. Our ward had a huge party at Lake McBride. They had swimming, games, lunch, and other fun activities. Our kids swam, I sat and relaxed, and Bob played sport games. I will include a picture from in front of the Coral Ridge Mall that we checked out.
2. I was called in for job interview Tuesday morning. It was a long two hour event including teaching a class, interviewing for an hour, and then writing an essay about the early adolescent child. I found out Friday that I didn’t get the job. It is almost impossible to get a job here.
3. On Friday, the Marisa and Kayla got their braces! It was exciting until they night when their mouths were so sore that they could barely speak. Marisa only had to get them on the top and will wear them 6-9 months. Kayla only has them on the front four teeth. Once they align, the rest of the braces can be put on. I will include the before and after photos.
4. On Saturday, I got to attend the Stake Primary Activity Days activity with Kayla. We had such a great time. We made a cool board that we painted and put this “sticker” on that says “Anything’s Possible” and then put a magnet board on it. I will have to take a picture. Then we took a craft class where we made these ADORABLE notebooks. Then we had this GREAT class on modesty. These sisters taught it using dolls the girls could dress up. Their mother had hand sewn EVERY doll outfit to show what was appropriate and how to fix clothes that aren’t. I think it was Kayla’s favorite class! Then we had a lovely luncheon and watched a neat film on Sister Hinckley.
5. When we came home, I found out Bob and the kids had gone through and rearranged all my kitchen cupboards to make it easier and give me more room. What a fantastic surprise that was!!!!
6. I spent the afternoon cleaning (as usual) and making 4 loads of this amazing Amish friendship bread. Bob took the kids to a bday party that night while I relaxed with a heating pad on my back.

Anyway, we are excited for some freedom and look forward to all the fun summer activities. Have a great week!

Kris
