Two-Week Update of the Harts:

On Monday, Tyler’s class put on a constitution play. He was John Blair. They did such a cute job. I video taped it and will post pictures to the website.

As part of Tyler’s Faith in God requirements, he wrote and created a play on Heavenly Father’s creation that he, Kayla, and Alayna put on for us. It was so cute. However, we ran out of videotape so I missed that one.

Tyler, Kayla, and Alayna created a dance concert that they put on for us Saturday night. We did get this one taped and it was very entertaining. I got some great pictures too. You should see Tyler do his version of hip-hop. Its hilarious!!!

Marisa auditioned for chamber orchestra. She is now the second chair of the 1st violin section in the whole school! She is so proud- that is a huge accomplishment. And yes, she even beat Henry;)

Kayla is starting on the school dance team in October. I think she has decided just to stick with that and band for right now. She is LOVING middle school so far!

Alayna got sick this week with a bad cold and had to miss two days of school. She is feeling better although her nose is running non-stop and is now complaining about an earache. Also, yesterday, Kayla was playing with a gun that shoots out balls. Somehow “accidentally” she shot one smack into Alayna’s eye. So, now she has a black eye starting. Lovely!

I have still been subbing quit a bit. Any spare time I have is spent studying. Subbing is always a unique experience. This week I had a student use a glue stick as chap stick and then he was shocked later when his lips wouldn’t open! I also had a kid tell me I was the best “gansta teacher” in the whole school. I still don’t know what that means, but he assured me it was a good thing!

We had a HUGE “Survivor” party this week to celebrate the premiere. We met two other families at the new pizza joint by our house (that just opened this week by a new family in our ward) Then we all came here, watched survivor, and stuffed ourselves full of desserts. What a fun night!!

Bob ended up helping that family again with their roof last Saturday. The dad fell off the roof and shattered his hip socket. He has been in the hospital all this week, had surgery, and will have to go through 12 weeks of recovery. Like I said weeks ago, that is a job that should have been hired out. I am just so glad it wasn’t Bob who fell off the roof!!

Bob and I started watching the series Prison Break. We ordered it from Netflix and have been absolutely LOVING it!! What a brilliant concept. We are also excited about all our shows starting again this week.

Our best friends here are moving into a rental house while they build their new home, so we spent most of yesterday helping them move.

Okay, That is our fast summation of the week. A special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Grandma Ribera and James this week!!! Hope everyone is having a great week and we hope to hear from you all soon.

Another update for another busy week!

1. I subbed for 3 days this past week. I definitely enjoy being at the middle school. I have 2 days scheduled so far this week.
2. I am the new CTR6 primary teacher. Let’s just say after Sunday, I was reminded of why I love middle school. Hmmm…
3. I finished one of my history courses this weekend! I did run into a major problem when their site shut down during my final!!! So, I am trying to get a hold of my professor to take the test over. Only one more history class to go. I register for the other two classes soon.
4. Bob spent 5 hours on Saturday helping a family in our ward put on a new roof. They aren’t even close to being done. Looks like he will go again this Saturday. He is also doing lots of overtime through this month and trying to catch the BYU games when he can. He has definitely been busy.
5. Last week, Alayna and I made playdough for her class. We had so much fun. I will post a picture so you can see.
6. Alayna is loving kindergarten and talks about her “class-mates” all the time.
7. Tyler is enjoying school and is becoming one of the funniest people I know. What a character!
8. Kayla is finally settling in to middle school. She dropped vocal so she could have 2 more study hall days. That should help with all the extra homework she has had.
9. Marisa’s volleyball team won their game last night against Taft!! She was so excited. She is also busy with orchestra, French (she keeps speaking to me in it!), and an honors history course! She is also trying to study early for the GEO bee so she can beat Henry Kopesky!

Well, that sums up our busy previous week. Tonight we are making scripture bags at activity days, Marisa has YW, Bob and I have to get the new magnetic temple recommends, etc. Whew! You can say the Harts are never bored!! Have a great week.

Just a quick check in. Nothing new or out of the ordinary happened this week. Marisa continued volleyball and is on the black team. We don’t know what level yet, but should find out Tuesday.
I have been filling every waking hour with studying and homework. I also subbed two days this week. (That means I have subbed 4 out of the first 10 days of school.) I have several more jobs lined up. It sure helps knowing people. I am almost done with one of my history courses. I am really enjoying the class. Wish I could take my time on it, but I REALLY must get all these courses done before the long-term job starts.
Bob and his team at work got to go golfing one afternoon this week. He had a great time and his team won.
Bob and I are teaching the sunbeams today. There are 12 of them. It makes for a long afternoon. Hopefully it will go well. I brought treats and lots of coloring pages.
Tomorrow, Bob may take the kids canoeing with another family in our ward while I stay here to get stuff done. I hope that we can spend the afternoon relaxing. We have a busy few weeks ahead.
Well, as I said, nothing new going on here. We miss hearing from everyone. Enjoy your Labor Day!
