We started volunteering at the shelter this week too! We took Herky for a walk or actually he took me.  You should have seen me being dragged through the forest. He was so excited!

I started my new “Shelter Buddy” program with the shelter today!  We had 4 kids show and it was so awesome! They just got a shipment last night of 33 dogs who were scheduled to be euthanized yesterday in Texas. So while they were bathing the new dogs and getting them settled, we got to read to them.  I wish I could take them all, but after the guinea palace we built…

Free at last!

It has been a very busy last week of school! We had a great memorial day with Corey and Hal visiting from AZ! We went to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and I absolutely fell in love with baby Groot!

They helped us Bob knock out a ton of projects we have been needing to do, from a floor and ramp replacement in the shed, to planting new flowers, to putting a new light in the laundry room, etc.  Thank you so much for all the help! We miss you already!

On Tuesday everyone came to help me with my “Read and Feed with Rescue Animals” mini course for school.  We brought my 7 guinea pigs and our dwarf bunny along with my friends 5 bunnies.  It was exhausting but a huge success!!!

Wednesday was Alayna’s last day of school.  She went to a friends house afterwards for a fun sleepover.  My last day was Friday and Boy am I happy to be done. It was such a fast and amazing year but I am blown away by the exhaustion.  I need this summer to reboot.

Yesterday, Alayna went on the ward Youth Temple Trip to Nauvoo. She said it was very fun trip.

May 14 update

I had a nice birthday last week as I turned 46.  I really wish I could slow time down.  I took Friday off from work and Bob took me to lunch at Olive Garden.

It’s been an interesting mothers day.  My upper respiratory infection came back so I was up 6 hours Friday night coughing. Then I cleaned and ran errands all day Saturday, but couldn't get to sleep until almost 2AM because of the meds I'm on for the infection.  I just woke up at noon.  So, I am glad I slept but sad I missed church and half the day already!

I FINALLY got some pictures of Alayna from her final choir concert and tennis.

We had such an awesome skype with Sara Weldon who is going on the Great Viking Quest!!! She built the boat on her own! (Taught herself how to build it!) It will be a 6 month trip and she will break 4 world records. How cool is that?! Not only did we get to ask her some really cool stuff, but she happened to be off the boat for our call and had 3 girls with her (almost the same age as our students) who had never skyped before. I wish I could have captured the excitement in the room as questions flew back and forth between all the kids!! They showed us their school uniforms, their money, their American candy box that just arrived. So much excitement and learning. And if that wasn’t enough, if we send Sara $1 she will engrave our names in her boat. What?!?!  http://www.thegreatbritishvikingquest.com/

Marisa’s trip

Marisa is on a wonderful trip and break from school to Monterey California.  She went with her friend Mitch to check out the grad school there (Middlebury Institute of International Studies-the translation and localization management program) , stopped in Santa Barbara, and now they are headed to St. George.

Hart April update -Part 2

Alayna has been doing awesome on the tennis team.  She won her last 2 matches and really seems to enjoy playing.  She has also been practicing driving with Bob.  We hope to get her a school license so she can drive to and from school next year.  I will try to get some pictures at her next match.

Kayla has been pretty sick with the pregnancy so far.  I was hoping she would be lucky and not go through what I did.  She started school last week for the spring semester.  She and Brandon will be moving up to Idaho next week for the summer.  Brandon will be working and she will keep going with school.

Marisa is moving into Brandon and Kayla’s apt next week.  She will stay there while she does spring semester and then she heads to Brazil for her internship June 24- August 24ish? She is pretty excited and I wish I could go with her!

Tyler still doesn't have a full time job but is subbing for the daycare. I am still not sure if he will be out to Utah this summer.  He has applied to the MATC for the digital media program (in Lehi, Utah) but we haven't heard back if he was accepted yet.

I have been dealing with an awful cough and hardly slept the past month.  Finally couldnt take it anymore- went in to the dr and found I had an upper respiratory infection. So I am doing MUCH better now that I have meds to clear that up.  I am still LOVING my job.  I am so happy there ar]nd there are so many awesome things going on.  I have connected with Wehrenberg and the Marion Public library to help push our summer reading program.  I have been training to take over all pf the NWEA testing for the whole school. We have had more skyping fun and I just love it all!

Since I have no pics of my kids- you get pics of the babies!

Hart April update

Obviously we have been pretty busy and I have missed a few weeks of posts. So I will try to catch everyone up on the last month.

1st and most exciting news is that Brandon and Kayla are expecting their 1st baby and we are so excited to be grandparents for the 1st time!  They went to the dr this past week and everything looks great and they set the due date as November 4th.  I am planning on flying out as soon as she goes into labor.  This is so exciting!!!

How is it April already?!

This has been a very crazy week. We had the book fair and 3 parent conference nights.  The book fair was a huge success but exhausting.  I started coming down with a massive cold, cough, and laryngitis.  I have been down since then.  Called the dr because I thought it was strep, but it turns out to just be a super bad cold.  I am super tired of Tyler bringing home germs.  We have all been so sick this year.  Alayna missed a day, this week, Tyler was in bed really sick for 5 days and Bob has both ears completely plugged again.  With his ears plugged, and me with laryngitis, we have been like an old couple who cant communicate at all- if it wasnt so frustrating it would be funny…

Alayna started tennis and is now in her last quarter of school. Tyler is done with his long term subbing job.  Not sure on his plans now.

IMG_20170320_161009226_HDR

We also got to Skype with Dani in California who saves many animals including Brown Pelicans.  We were able to talk to the pelicans and see them live.  This technology is so cool!

Marisa went to a military ball. She also had a mission reunion this weekend and her Mission President was called to the Seventy during conference.

I know Kayla and Brandon headed up to Idaho for conference.  I would LOVE to have some pictures to share…hint hint.  We do want to wish Kayla a Happy Birthday!  We wish we could have been there to celebrate!
